Report Development using Vertex Tables

I have never used vertex before so this may be something very basic for the experts

I need update a column in my JDE table based on some fields in vertex tables.

Question is, how do I access the vertex tables within JDE and report based off these tables ? The report needs to run nightly but could be ran adhoc also.
